Iryna Shevchuk, an attorney at Engarde, has participated in the VIIIth International Forum on the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Lviv, which took place on November 22-23, 2019. The event is organized annually for a wide range of legal practitioners, academics and eminent experts to discuss important issues related to the application of the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights. This year, the Forum was attended by judges of the European Court of Human Rights - Anna Yudkivska (Ukraine), Siofra O'Leary (Ireland), Lado Chanturia (Georgia), Latif Huseynov (Azerbaijan), and the Chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine - Valentyna Danishevska. More than 500 members of the human rights, scientific, expert, judicial and advocacy communities have participated in the Forum since 2012. During the Forum the new trends in the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, challenges related to the protection of human rights, the progress of reforms in the field of justice, gaps and shortcomings of national laws and practices, etc. were presented and discussed. Such discussions are aimed at deepening the application of the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Ukraine and improving justice and protection of human rights in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights.
